Frédéric Lagarrigue, CNRS Research associate working in the “Phagocyte Migration and Differentiation” team headed by Isabelle Maridonneau-Parini at IPBS, is awarded the first “Jeune Chercheur” Prize from the FONROGA foundation to honour all his research work in the field of integrins and cell migration. The quality of his achievements has been recognized by the best international journals. His current research interests focus on the dynamic regulation of immune cell adhesion and the interplay with macrophage-associated diseases, including cancer and chronic inflammation.

Jelena Kolosnjaj-Tabi, post-doctoral fellow in the "Cellular Biophysics" team headed by Marie-Pierre Rols at the IPBS, is awarded the second “Jeune Chercheur” Prize from the FONROGA foundation for the quality of her work in translational research. Fascinated by nanoparticles, their fate in vivo as well as their potential therapeutic applications against cancer and infectious diseases, she has studied the long-term behavior of different engineered nanoparticles (made of carbon, iron oxide, gold, etc.) and anthropogenic ones, present in urban air pollution. Her main discoveries include the assessment of airborne carbon nanotubes in the lungs of Parisian asthmatic children, the unravelling of the intimate interactions of magnetically heating nanoparticles and the tumoral stroma, and the development of a high-resolution MRI cell-tracking technique, that allows the real-time follow up of therapeutic cells. Besides being devoted to nanoparticles, her current research focuses on the evaluation of the effects of electromagnetic fields, where she investigates the effects of radiofrequency waves on cells and the extracellular matrix.

The official ceremony will be held in Toulouse in fall 2019.

The FONROGA (Fondation Roland Garrigou pour la Culture et la Santé) foundation is dedicated to support and promote culture and health.
