Professor Charlotte Vaysse is awarded the Legion of Honour
The IPBS extends its warmest congratulations to Professor Charlotte Vaysse, who has just been named Knight of the Legion of Honour by Professor Carole Mathelin, President of the National Academy of Surgery and a leading figure in the fight against breast cancer.
This prestigious distinction honors an exceptional career. Four years ago, Professor Vaysse became the first female surgeon in France to reach the rank of University Professor-Hospital Practitioner in the academic field of oncology. She has been a member of the National Academy of Surgery for the past two years.
In an emotional and determined speech, Professor Vaysse emphasized the importance of promoting women’s access to leadership positions, which remain too often underrepresented. She paid tribute to all women actively contributing to advances in medicine, in particular to Professor Catherine Muller, a trained hematologist and head of the “Microenvironment, Cancer and Adipocytes” team at the IPBS, with which Professor Vaysse is affiliated.
The ceremony was also marked by a moving tribute to patients, whose daily strength and courage serve as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to relentlessly pursue progress in research, care, and support.
