Margaux Rénier receives the 2nd Kerner Prize from the ARC Foundation (2025)

Margaux Rénier, a surgical intern specializing in senology, completed her research year at the IPBS within the Microenvironment, Cancer and Adipocytes team led by Professor Catherine Muller, under the supervision of C. Muller and Prof. Charlotte Vaysse (Professor of Medicine, Toulouse University Hospital). Her research focuses on the links between obesity, mammary adipose tissue, and breast cancer.
Using human tumor samples and co-culture models, she demonstrated that obesity promotes lipid transfer between adipocytes and tumor cells. This discovery opens new therapeutic perspectives, particularly around inhibiting this lipid transfer in tumors associated with poor prognosis.
Margaux Rénier is among the many medical residents who carry out their research year or PhD at IPBS.

During the ARC Young Researchers Days, the Kerner Prizes recognize researchers’ ability to present the significance of their work in a clear and accessible way. The prizes are awarded to the best presentations, selected by a jury of media professionals.
