Luciana Balboa Honored with a L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science” Award 2025
We are delighted to congratulate Dr. Luciana Balboa, co-leader of our international IPBS/CNRS-CONICET laboratory (IRP) in Argentina, who received a special mention as part of the L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science” Award 2025. This recognition celebrates her outstanding career and scientific commitment in the field of infectious diseases.
The international IPBS/CNRS-CONICET laboratory (International Research Project, IRP), founded by Olivier Neyrolles and Isabelle Parini, is now coordinated by Christel Vérollet and Geanncarlo Lugo. The laboratory serves as a scientific bridge between France and Argentina and focuses on critical research on HIV-tuberculosis co-infection, a major global public health challenge.
As co-PI of the laboratory, Luciana Balboa plays a central role in developing and coordinating international scientific projects, fostering knowledge exchange and innovation in biomedical research. Her recognition by L’Oréal-UNESCO highlights not only the quality of her work but also her dedication to promoting the role of women in science.
This distinction underscores the importance of international scientific collaboration and the contribution of mixed teams to advancing both fundamental and applied research. We are proud to see our laboratory’s work recognized on the global stage and to inspire the next generation of researchers.
