Launch of the LAM4RO project in Madagascar: a new step forward for tuberculosis diagnosis

IPBS is proud to announce the official launch of the LAM4RO project, “LipoArabinoMannane For Operational Research”, which took place on January 15, 2026, at the Institut Pasteur de Madagascar (IPM).

LAM4RO is an operational research project conducted in Madagascar and Cameroon aimed at improving tuberculosis screening and treatment monitoring. It is based on the development and evaluation of rapid, non-invasive respiratory and saliva tests adapted to field settings.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the Fondation Mérieux, the Centre Pasteur du Cameroun (CPC), IPBS (Jérôme Nigou’s team), and the National Tuberculosis Control Program (PNLT) of the Ministry of Public Health.
It is funded by ANRS Emerging Infectious Diseases.

This launch event marks the official start of LAM4RO activities, in support of diagnostic innovation and the strengthening of the fight against tuberculosis, a major public health priority.
