REHOME: CNRS Innovation funds a new therapeutic approach against chronic inflammatory diseases

CNRS Innovation has awarded pre-maturation funding to the REHOME project, led by Yoann Rombouts, a CNRS researcher in Olivier Neyrolles’ team at the Institute of Pharmacology and Structural Biology (IPBS, CNRS/Université Toulouse). Building on the doctoral work of Stella Rousset, the project will assess the therapeutic potential of innovative antibodies in an experimental model of rheumatoid arthritis.

The initiative will be carried out in collaboration with Anne Gonzalez de Peredo, Pascal Demange, and Samuel Tranier, as well as the TRI-IPBS and ANEXPLO-IPBS technology platforms at IPBS.

Over the past two decades, biologic therapies have revolutionized the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, and psoriasis. While their efficacy is well-established, these long-term treatments weaken patients’ immune defenses, increasing their susceptibility to infections and cancer.

“Our team has developed innovative antibodies targeting a key molecule that naturally regulates inflammation and maintains immune system balance,” explains Yoann Rombouts. “With REHOME, we will evaluate their therapeutic potential in an experimental model of rheumatoid arthritis.”
